French Mounted Gendarme Helmet M1912This is a fine exapmle of a french mounted gendarme helmet, model 1912 (gendarme à cheval). It is constructed of a lovely brass body which is fitted with beautifully nickeled silver high relief fittings that are adorned with the french flaming bomb and the face of medusa. The comb is mounted with a very healthy horsehair brush. The scaled chinstrap has survived in very nice condition as have all the lovely fittings and the outer backside of the helmet is well marked by the maker. The inner liner is long gone.
