Rare American Volunteers With The French Army MedalThis extremeyl rare medal measures about 4 1/4 tall overall. It is made of bronze and is hinged between the figures at hte top of the star. I have been told that it was presented by teh french to american volunteers that served with the french prior to the us involvement. I believe teh initials l. E. Stand for thelafayette escadrille, a. A. American ambulance and a. F. S. American field service. I'm not srue about the others. The top of the medal shows french and american soldiers shaking hands.
