I know nothing about this helmet other then i purchased it at a estate sale of a deceased wwii vet who had a large collection of german combat items. It resembles the m17 helmets i am seeing on internet auction sites. There appears to be the remnants of a painted maker's mark on the rear area inside rim, but it is too faded to make it out. Nothing that was stamped as i can find. hTe outer shell has one dent on top as shown in the photos. It looks like the helmet was painted in a black and dark tan camouflage pattern. There si no perforation or serious rust. The shell is in solid original unaltered condition adn would restore nicely if one wanted to do so. There is no liner with this helmet and there are no offensive markings.
